Job Description:
  • Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research on a variety of topics to support the legal team's decision-making processes and to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Legal Advisory: Review and advise on Project-Finance documents, contracts, and laws.
  • Document Drafting: Prepare and review legal documents, contracts, agreements, letters, memoranda, and other legal correspondence with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Contract Management: Assist in the review, negotiation, and management of contracts, ensuring that all contract terms are compliant with the law, in line with company policies, and in the best interest of the organization.
  • Reporting and Company Secretarial: Support in ensuring the Company meets its statutory and contractual reporting obligations as well as working with the Company Secretary in governance.
  • Compliance: Monitor changes in laws and regulations relevant to the industry and business operations and assist in developing strategies to maintain compliance.
  • Litigation Support: Provide support in legal disputes and litigation matters, including document review, preparing case summaries, and collaborating with external legal counsel.
  • Legal Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized legal records, databases, and files to ensure easy retrieval and accessibility of information.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and external partners to provide legal guidance, updates, and assistance
  • Training and Education: Assist in the development and delivery of legal training programs for employees to enhance their understanding of legal issues related to their roles.Policy Development: Collaborate with the legal team to review, update, and develop company policies and procedures in alignment with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Administrative Tasks: Provide administrative support to the legal department, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and coordinating appointments.
  • Others: Assist with other legal tasks as may be assigned from time to time by or on behalf of the Line Manager.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) from an accredited institution; master’s degree in law (LLM) is a plus
  • Admittance to the Nigerian Bar
  • 5 to 8 years of experience working as a Legal Associate or in a similar legal role.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient in legal research methods and databases
  • Excellent drafting and writing skills for legal documents and correspondences
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in using legal software and technology.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
