- As a Civil Engineer/Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in managing civil engineering projects from design to completion.
- You will oversee technical designs, ensure quality and safety compliance, monitor site progress, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful and timely project outcomes.
- Manage and supervise civil engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Prepare and review structural designs, construction drawings, and documentation.
- Perform structural analysis and design for both steel and reinforced concrete structures.
- Lead project teams and coordinate with site engineers, technicians, and subcontractors.
- Assist in the procurement process and contract management.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure compliance with local construction regulations and safety standards.
- Use project management tools to track progress, manage resources, and report to senior management.
- Work with your team to develop projects from early concept through design development.
- Research, plan and design structural solutions for a wide range of construction projects.
- Responsible for completing structural analysis and design of structures
- Prepare drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Make calculations about pressures, loads and stresses.
- Consider the strength of construction materials and select appropriately.
- Organize and manage permit documents (drawings) where necessary.
- Set out, level and survey the site.
- Check plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations.
- Prepare drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs, and monitor work for compliance with applicable codes.
- Provide technical advice on safe designs and construction.
- Obtain planning and/or building regulations approval.
- Analyze configurations of the basic components of a structure.
- Liaise with professional staff such as architects and engineers.
- Responsible for the preparation of construction drawings and specification packages
- Familiarize and implement the procedures as stated in the PM Manual
- Project monitoring in strategically manner
- Liaise with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project.
- Liaise with the local authority (where appropriate to the project) to ensure compliance with local construction regulations and by-laws.
- Communicate with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers and surveyors), including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of progress.
- Carry out day-to-day management of the site that has been assigned to you, including supervising and monitoring the site labour force and the work of any subcontractors - this is site-specific and may not be the case on all projects.
- Plan the work and efficiently organize the plan and site facilities in order to meet agreed deadlines.
- Oversee quality control and health and safety matters on site.
- Prepare reports as required.
- Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
- Working according to project time schedule and meeting up with projects deadline.
- BSc. / M.Sc. in Civil Engineering
- Minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant experience, including experience in project management.
- COREN certified (Essential)
- Registered with COREN or in the process of registration.
- Proficient in the use of Project Management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera).
- Strong skills in structural design and analysis software such as:
- AutoCAD
- ETABS
- SAFE
- Staad Pro
- ProtaStructure
- Revit (a plus)
- Strong understanding of Nigerian building codes and international standards.
- Proven leadership and team coordination abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
