- We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Import Operations Officer to manage the end-to-end import operations of our company.
- As an Import Operations Officer, you will be responsible for coordinating with suppliers, logistics providers, and regulatory authorities to ensure timely and compliant importation of goods.
- The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of international trade, regulatory compliance, and supply chain operations, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and seamless coordination.
- Execute all aspects of the company’s import operations, including coordinating with all the relevant stakeholders, including but not limited to suppliers, shipping lines, clearing agents, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
- Process all necessary regulatory permits and licenses for imported goods (including NCS Fast Track / AEO Permits, NAFDAC Import Permits, SON Import Permits, Form Ms, and Pre-Arrival Assessment Reports), liaising with governmental agencies to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Support the preparation, submission, and management of Letters of Credit (LCs) in coordination with Finance.
- Review and verify all import related documentation, including invoices, bills of lading, customs declarations, customs duties, and import licenses, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely delivery.
- Coordinate with shipping lines and terminals to ensure accurate and timely invoicing and receipting.
- Collaborate with clearing agents to facilitate efficient customs clearance and resolve any import-related issues or delays, to ensure smooth delivery of goods.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant customs regulations, trade laws, and import requirements. - Identify and mitigate potential risks related to import operations, trade laws, and import requirements, and escalate internally as necessary.
- Plan and coordinate the transportation and movement of goods and resolve any logistics issues.
- Prepare Exchange Control Documents and other required documentation for regulatory compliance for each shipment.
- Maintain accurate records of all import transactions and ensure compliance with company policies and trade regulations.
- Stay updated on changes in import regulations, trade laws, and industry best practices, and communicate updates to relevant team members
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, but not mandatory.
- Proven work experience as an Import Operations Officer, Import Coordinator, or in a similar role within a supply chain or international trade environment.
- Strong knowledge of import regulations, customs regulations and procedures, and international shipping processes.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and reporting.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills to anticipate and resolve operational challenges.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and relevant supply chain software.
- Reports to: Supply Chain Manager
- Key Collaborations: Finance and Accounts Team, Supply ChainTeam
- Internal: Finance and Accounts, and Supply Chain.
- External: Vendors, Auditors, Government Agencies, Statutory Bodies, and any other Regulatory Bodies.
- Salary: N400,000 - N700,000 per month.
