- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and other legal documents, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulators, and internal policies.
- Provide strategic legal advice on business initiatives, transactions, partnerships, and operational matters.
- Oversee and implement company secretarial functions, including preparing and reviewing board packs, drafting minutes, supporting board and shareholder meetings, and ensuring timely statutory filings.
- Maintain corporate records and ensure compliance with corporate governance requirements.
- Monitor, interpret, and advise on evolving multi-jurisdictional regulatory requirements, with a focus on African markets.
- Lead the development, review, and implementation of internal policies to align with changing laws and regulations.
- Oversee compliance risk assessments, frameworks, and monitoring activities; embed compliance requirements into business processes.
- Coordinate enterprise risk management initiatives, including privacy-by-design and AML/KYC compliance.
- Manage and advise on potential and active disputes, claims, and regulatory investigations, working with internal stakeholders and external counsel to protect Qore's interests.
- Develop early settlement or mitigation strategies to minimize legal, financial, and reputational risks.
- Lead or support strategic projects across the Group's teams (Policy & Regulatory; Compliance; Sustainability, Investment & Governance; Contracting, Business & Legal Advisory; Risk, Privacy & Data Security)
- Act as project lead on cross-functional initiatives, driving timelines, deliverables, and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Contribute to governance initiatives, investor due diligence processes and sustainability reporting.
- Provide high-level advisory input to senior leadership and collaborate with other functions to manage risk and enable growth
- Mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative, high-performance and well-rounded work culture.
- Manage multiple work-streams to ensure timely delivery without compromising quality, even in high-demand conditions.
- LLB & BL in Law, with 4+ years post call experience in a top tier commercial law firm, banking or financial technology industry; at least 1-2 years' experience in a law firm will be an added advantage.
- Strong legal, regulatory compliance, and risk management background (preferably in-house/within the financial services sector)
- Leadership and team coordination skills, including mentoring of junior colleagues and driving projects to completion.
- Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in contract drafting, review, and negotiation across varied commercial arrangements.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of corporate governance and company secretarial practices, including board/shareholders' meeting support, statutory compliance, and regulatory filings.
- Solid understanding of policy development, regulatory frameworks, and multi-jurisdictional compliance (Africa focus preferred).
- Familiarity with privacy, data protection, AML/KYC regulations, and related compliance obligations.
- Experience in dispute resolution and claims management, including negotiation, mediation, and coordination with external counsel or regulators.
- Ability to manage multiple work-streams across diverse subject areas and deliver high-quality output under tight deadlines.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and advisory skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
