Our client in the Manufacturing industry is seeking to recruit a Head of Supply Chain and Logistics.The Head of Supply Chain & Logistics is a senior executive role responsible for developing, implementing, and optimising end-to-end supply chain strategies to ensure operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and business growth. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the candidate will oversee procurement, logistics, supplier relationship management, inventory control, and international sourcing of raw materials. The ideal candidate must possess deep expertise in customs clearing, freight management, international procurement, supplier credit building, invoice financing, and ESG compliance in supply chains.This role is critical in strengthening the supply chain resilience, negotiating supplier credit lines of up to $500,000, and ensuring seamless importation of raw materials while mitigating supply chain risks. The Head of Supply Chain & Logistics must also leverage supplier relationships, improve working capital, and optimize international trade operations to enhance the organisation's competitive advantage.Key Responsibilities1. Supply Chain Strategy and LeadershipDevelop and implement a robust supply chain strategy aligned with organisation’s growth, cost efficiency, and sustainability goals.Oversee the entire supply chain cycle, from supplier selection, procurement, logistics, warehousing, and distribution to final delivery.Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure supply chain effectiveness, inventory turnover, supplier performance, and cost savings.Lead risk mitigation strategies for currency fluctuations, geopolitical risks, and supply chain disruptions.2. International Procurement & Supplier Credit ManagementSource and procure raw materials from international markets, ensuring compliance with Yikodeen’s quality standards.Build and maintain supplier relationships to secure credit lines of up to $500,000, enhancing working capital management.Negotiate favorable contract terms, including extended payment cycles and cost-efficient supplier financing options.Conduct due diligence on suppliers to mitigate risks related to compliance, quality control, and ethical sourcing.3. Customs Clearance, Freight & Import ManagementEnsure smooth importation of raw materials by managing all customs-clearing processes, tariffs, and regulatory requirements.Develop strategies for duty optimization, import tax reductions, and compliance with Nigerian Customs Service regulations.Partner with freight forwarders, logistics providers, and government agencies to streamline import/export operations.Establish relationships with reliable international shipping and freight companies to negotiate competitive shipping rates and terms.4. Logistics, Distribution & Inventory ManagementOversee inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring efficient distribution of raw materials and finished goods.Implement real-time tracking systems to monitor shipping, warehousing, and final product delivery.Manage warehouse operations, ensuring optimal stock levels and minimising waste or stockouts.Develop data-driven models to optimise inventory turnover and reduce holding costs.5. Invoice Financing & Working Capital OptimizationImplement invoice financing strategies to improve cash flow and operational liquidity.Collaborate with financial institutions to leverage invoice discounting, trade credit insurance, and supplier finance programs.Ensure seamless coordination between finance, procurement, and suppliers for effective working capital management.6. ESG & Sustainable Supply Chain ManagementIntegrate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into the supply chain policies.Establish supplier ESG compliance frameworks to ensure ethical sourcing, carbon footprint reduction, and waste minimization.Collaborate with sustainable finance organizations to access ESG-linked financing for supply chain sustainability initiatives.Drive initiatives to source eco-friendly raw materials and implement sustainable logistics solutions.Reporting Structure and RelationshipsReports directly to the CEO and aligns supply chain objectives with corporate strategy.Works closely with the CFO to ensure the financial feasibility of supply chain strategies and credit management.Collaborates with the COO to enhance manufacturing efficiency through optimized raw material procurement.Engages with regulatory bodies, freight partners, and suppliers to ensure compliance and efficient operations.General Expectations and Organizational ControlStrategic Leadership: Position the organisation as a leader in cost-efficient and sustainable supply chain management.Operational Efficiency: Reduce lead times, optimize freight costs, and ensure smooth procurement cycles.Financial Prudence: Achieve $500,000 in supplier credit lines and implement invoice financing solutions.Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure full compliance with Nigerian import regulations, customs laws, and ESG requirements.Supplier & Vendor Management: Foster strong relationships to secure high-quality raw materials at the best possible terms.RequirementsQualifications & ExperienceEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, or a related field (Master’s/MBA preferred).Professional Certifications: CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional), CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply), or equivalent preferred.Experience: Minimum 10 years in supply chain leadership, with at least 5 years in a manufacturing or international trade environment.Technical Expertise:Customs clearing, import/export documentation, and freight management.Supplier credit negotiations, invoice financing, and working capital optimization.ESG principles in supply chain management.Advanced proficiency in ERP systems, supply chain analytics, and procurement software.
