We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to lead our growth strategy in African markets, with an initial focus on Nigeria. The role involves business development, government relations, and cross-functional leadership across product, marketing, and sales teams.πŸ“ Location: Remote – Based in Nigeria (preferably Lagos, Sagamu, or Ibadan)
πŸ’Ό Position: Full-time, permanent contract
🧠 Experience: 3+ years in business development, venture/startup environments, or import/export (agriculture products a plus)
πŸ• Schedule: Flexible, frequent travel requiredπŸ”‘Key Responsibilities:
  • Business Development: Identify and develop new opportunities, partnerships, and clients across Africa.
  • Government Relations: Build relationships with government agencies and regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Align product, marketing, and sales strategies; resolve bottlenecks in matrix structures.
  • Product & Marketing Strategy: Support product development aligned with market trends; guide marketing for strong positioning.
  • Sales Enablement: Provide market insights and tools to boost acquisition and retention.
  • Public Representation: Represent the company at events, conferences, and with media.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, with knowledge of financial models, budgeting, and P&L management
  • Proven experience in business development and first sales/project launches for new products
  • Strong import/export expertise (agriculture sector a plus)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; experience in public representation
  • Familiarity with R&D product launch methodology (research, customer development, lead generation)
  • High PC proficiency; knowledge of tools like Trello, Asana, Notion, Airtable
  • Nigerian citizenship; experience with Russian-speaking companies is a plus
