- Pipeline development: Actively identify, qualify, and prioritize leads within your assigned vertical. Use a combination of outbound sourcing, referrals, and market research to build a strong pipeline of high-quality opportunities.
- Merchant pitching & deal closure: Drive end-to-end deal cycles from first contact through needs assessment, pitching, solution design, and final onboarding.
- Portfolio management: Manage a portfolio of active merchants within your vertical. Understand their business deeply, identify opportunities for growth, and act as their internal advocate at Paystack.
- Strategic account growth: Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities by aligning merchant goals with the full range of Paystack's offerings.
- Data-driven insights: Analyze internal datasets and merchant performance to surface actionable insights. Translate payment trends into growth recommendations for both internal product teams and external stakeholders.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Risk & Compliance, and Support teams to unblock merchant challenges and shape Paystack's roadmap through on-the-ground insights.
- Thought leadership & vertical expertise: Become a domain expert within your vertical. Share insights with peers, speak at industry events, and represent Paystack in strategic conversations.
- You have experience in business development, consulting, account management, or strategy, ideally in a tech-enabled, high-growth environment.
- You have strong commercial acumen and a bias for execution. You understand business drivers and are comfortable owning a commercial target.
- You're a natural communicator, whether in a pitch, a written brief, or a boardroom negotiation.
- You're curious and resourceful. You don't wait to be told what to do; you proactively find answers and unlock opportunities.
- You enjoy understanding how things work. You'll go deep into Paystack's tools and APIs to help merchants get the most from our platform.
- You care deeply about customers. You're not just solving for the sale, you're invested in helping businesses succeed over the long term.
- You're organized, coachable, and able to manage multiple priorities without dropping the ball.
- have prior experience in payments, SaaS, or financial services
- are familiar with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, PipeDrive) and data analysis tools (e.g. Excel)
- have experience working with merchants across different sectors or in a sales/client-facing capacity
- are comfortable with analysing large amounts of data
